Cougar Studies
Jeremy Banfield's Study Update

During the late winter of 2010, Jeremy Banfield and houndsman, Brent Sinclair captured and collared 7 cougars. Over the summer and fall Banfield and his team visited cougar kill sites in an effort to identify what species was killed. These data will then serve as a starting point for analyzing the fine scale movement associated with cougar foraging behaviours.

Currently in the latter half of his field season, Banfield is hoping to capture an additional 6 cougars during the winter of 2011. If successful Banfield and his team will continue to visit kill sites collecting data about prey and fine scale movements until summer of 2011, when the field season will be complete. The data will be analyzed and a final publication of the results is expected for late 2012.
